The Finals

It was November, 2011. Cold breezes blowing, the stage was set. Students from all over the state of Assam has come to take part in this grand quiz called "Bodoland Quiz". This is the first time, that a quiz at such a grand scale is happening in our town Kokrajhar. Along with two of my friends, I registered our names for the prelims. We sat exactly in the center of the makeshift auditorium which was set-up right in the middle of 11th Bodoland Book Fair. Soon after, Barry O'Brien, a famous quiz master came and inaugurated the event. The prelims started soon after and we got through the prelims easily and got selected in the top 6 teams to sit for the main round.

The main round consisted of five sub rounds. In each round, we were trying to stay in the top and only one another group was able to give us competition. After the end of all those five rounds, our score was tied to that of that group. The quiz master decided to give us a tie-breaker question on the buzzer. Everyone became tensed and the crowd also calmed down. Both the teams had their hands on the buzzer. The question was asked and I pressed the buzzer as fast as possible. The quiz master turned towards me and asked for answer, I told him the answer is 33 in a jiffy. As soon as I said that, the other team was declared winner as my answer was wrong. I had given wrong answer very stupidly to a very very easy question. My heart shattered. I lost in one of the most crucial competitions of my life. Every clapped hard.... My teammates were silent.... So do I. But after a while every one cheered me up and everything came to normalcy. That was one of the most heart-breaking and heart-warming moment for me. I lost the first prize which was a Laptop but won my first computer in the form of a desktop. My life changed literally after that day. All my choices turned around. From architect, I turned to VFX designing as my aim.

And yeah, the last question was What is the number of ribs a normal human have.... I have answered them the number of vertebrates.....
